Throat

Problems of the neck and throat can have many different causes – from minor infections to serious conditions. That’s why a thorough evaluation is especially important.

Common conditions

  • Recurrent tonsillitis: frequent throat infections may cause fever, severe sore throat, and fatigue. In cases of repeated infections, tonsil removal (tonsillectomy) can be considered.
  • Swollen lymph nodes: often occur during infections, but can sometimes be a sign of other conditions.
  • Salivary gland infections and stones: can lead to swelling, pain when eating, or dry mouth.
  • Salivary gland tumors: require careful evaluation and, if necessary, surgical treatment.
  • Swallowing difficulties and globus sensation (“lump in the throat”): may be caused by reflux, enlarged tonsils, mucus, or other conditions.
  • Vocal cord changes and hoarseness: can result from overuse, vocal cord polyps, or reflux. Hoarseness lasting longer than 3 weeks should always be evaluated by an ENT specialist.
  • Reflux diagnostics: to determine if acid reflux is the cause of throat symptoms or hoarseness.
  • Head and neck tumors: preventive check-ups in at-risk patients and follow-up care after tumor treatment.

My approach

I provide comprehensive evaluation for neck and throat complaints and tailor the treatment individually – ranging from medication and lifestyle measures to endoscopic examinations and surgical procedures. This also includes tonsil surgery for recurrent infections. A special focus of my work is early detection and follow-up care in head and neck cancer, to identify conditions in time and ensure the best possible treatment.
